🎯 About the Role

As a QA Automation Engineer, you will be a core contributor ensuring that Morningstar’s web applications, APIs, and digital platforms meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability. This role demands deep ownership, strong analytical capabilities, and the drive to understand both the technical and functional aspects of the application.

You will work closely with Product Managers, Developers, Technical Managers, and fellow QA engineers, delivering robust test strategies, automated test suites, and mentorship to strengthen quality processes across the team.

🛠 Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements, workflows, and future enhancements.

• Develop effective test strategies, test plans, and high-quality test cases covering functional, regression, integration, and UAT scenarios.

• Design and implement automated test scripts using Selenium/WebDriver and Java-based test frameworks.

• Perform automation testing for modern web applications built on JavaScript frameworks like React and AngularJS using tools such as Protractor.js.

• Conduct API testing to validate backend services and application logic.

• Carry out performance testing using JMeter or equivalent tools to ensure application responsiveness and scalability.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospective meetings.

• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior QA team members on best practices, automation architecture, and testing frameworks.

• Learn business logic and domain workflows to ensure test coverage aligns with real-world customer scenarios.

• Maintain clear documentation, defect reports, and communication with all stakeholders to uphold transparency and delivery standards.

🧠 Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding of web application architecture involving Java, JavaScript, and API-driven backend services.

• Experience in writing detailed test cases and building automated test suites.

• Hands-on experience with Selenium/WebDriver and Java-based testing frameworks.

• Experience testing modern web applications using Protractor.js for AngularJS/React projects.

• Solid knowledge of API testing tools and methodologies.

• Familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter.

• Knowledge of security testing tools like Burp Suite is an added advantage.

Testing Fundamentals:

• Deep understanding of QA methodologies: Smoke, Sanity, Regression, Integration, and UAT.

• Ability to define test strategies for new feature development and system-wide releases.

• Understanding of Agile/Scrum development practices.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and product teams.
