🎯 About the Role: Manual API QA Engineer (Testing)

As a Manual API QA Engineer, you will be responsible for validating backend services and ensuring the reliability, functionality, and performance of APIs used across enterprise applications. This role focuses on manual testing of REST and SOAP APIs, understanding request–response workflows, and ensuring that integrations behave as expected under various scenarios.

You will collaborate closely with developers, participate in agile ceremonies, and contribute to quality assurance sign-offs. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of backend systems and QA best practices.

🛠 Key Responsibilities

• Review API specifications and understand workflows, payload structures, and request–response models.

• Design, document, and execute manual test cases for REST and SOAP APIs.

• Validate HTTP status codes, headers, authentication mechanisms, and JSON/XML responses.

• Perform functional, regression, integration, and negative testing for backend services.

• Use tools such as Postman, Swagger, Fiddler, or similar platforms for API testing.

• Identify, log, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, payloads, and expected vs. actual results.

• Collaborate with development teams to reproduce issues, debug root causes, and verify fixes.

• Participate in sprint planning, requirement reviews, and QA sign-off discussions.

• Maintain test documentation, test data, and version control records.

• Ensure adherence to QA processes and software development lifecycle (SDLC) standards.
