This Associate-level DevOps Engineer role sits within Morgan Stanley’s CDRR Technology (Cyber) team. You will design and build APIs and distributed systems that enable developers to deploy, configure, and run multiple code scanning tools at scale. Your work ensures the security and reliability of applications used across the firm.
The role blends software engineering, DevOps, security, SRE practices, and hands-on automation—making it an excellent fit for engineers with a strong development foundation and a passion for cybersecurity.
⚙️ What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
API & System Development

Design and build APIs to help developers deploy, reconfigure, and execute code scanning tools.

Build infrastructure to process scan results and determine release eligibility based on firm-wide security policies.
Distributed Systems & Automation
-
Work on distributed architectures and understand the complexities in building fault-tolerant systems.

Develop automation across CI/CD pipelines, integrating configuration-as-code and self-service tools.
Security-Centric Engineering
-
Perform PoCs on new tools and technologies to strengthen Morgan Stanley’s security posture.

Implement secure coding principles and contribute to application security initiatives.
SDLC Ownership
-
Engage across the entire software development lifecycle—coding, automated testing, deployment, and production support.

Ensure adoption of SDLC and SRE best practices including resiliency, system reliability, and observability.
Observability & SRE
-
Build dashboards, alerts, and metrics using monitoring tools and OpenTelemetry.

Focus on SLOs, error budgets, and reducing operational toil.
Documentation & Collaboration
-
Create documentation-as-code to preserve team knowledge and SRE processes.
-
Collaborate in agile squads, participate in architecture decisions, and present findings to stakeholders.
๐ง What They’re Looking For
Required Skills & Experience
-
~2 years of development experience (Python preferred; others considered).

Strong understanding of modern development practices and API design.

Ability to write clean, object-oriented, and secure code.

Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and web-based security threats (XSS, CSRF, etc.).

Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar.

Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and platforms:

Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible

Experience with distributed SQL or NoSQL data storage systems.
